Effect of Directed Massage in Patients Suffering From Chronic Spinal Pain Refractory to PO2S: a Randomised Clinical Trial

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a oriented massage by comparing it with that of a classic symmetrical massage.

After being informed, included and randomised, the 50 people received four successive massages. Four receive a symmetrical massage and four receive a directional massage, in a 1:1 ratio.

Inclusion Criteria:

• Patients suffering from chronic spinal pain (for at least 3 months) refractory to PO2S
• Patients aged between 18 and 80
• Patients having been treated with PO2S and still suffering from refractory pain
• Patients who gave informed consent to participate in the study

Exclusion Criteria:

• Patients whose chronic spinal pain is caused by inflammatory disease, tumour, infection or trauma to the back.
• Patients with a history of back surgery and/or vertebral fracture in the last 6 months
• Patients with a motor disability related to the reason for consultation
• Women who are more than six months pregnant.
• Patients who are unable to communicate or understand the study process.
• Patients who had been assessed and excluded by Dr Jean Luc Isambert.
