The Effect of Movement Education on Fundamental Biomotor Skills in Children Aged 6-9
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if movement training improves speed, jumping ability, and flexibility in children aged 6 to 9.
The main questions it aims to answer are:
Does movement training improve sprint speed in young children?
Does movement training help children jump farther?
Does movement training improve body flexibility?
Participants completed a 6-week movement training program. They took part in 60-minute exercise sessions 2 times a week.
Researchers measured the participants' height, weight, speed, long jump, and flexibility before and after the 6-week training program to see if their physical skills improved.
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of movement training applied during early childhood (ages 6-9) on speed, standing long jump, and flexibility capacity. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Istanbul Gelisim University Rectorate with the decision dated 18.03.2026 and numbered 2026-04-42. The study group consisted of 38 individual receiving basic gymnastics training within the Istanbul Gelisim University Sports Club, whose parents provided informed consent. Anthropometric measurements were taken before the training sessions began.
The study lasted for 6 weeks, with training sessions conducted twice a week for 60 minutes. Before and after the training program, participants were tested using the 10-meter sprint test, standing long jump test, and sit-and-reach test. In this study, an experimental method from quantitative research approaches was used, specifically a single-group pretest-posttest design. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 24 software. The normality of the data was evaluated using the Shapiro-Wilk test, as well as by examining skewness and kurtosis values divided by their standard errors. Following these evaluations, if the data showed a normal distribution, the paired samples t-test was used for two dependent groups. If the data did not show a normal distribution, the nonparametric Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test was applied. In all analyses, a p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

Having any physical disability or chronic orthopedic condition that prevents active participation in exercise
