Parental Stress and Its Relationship With Perceived Social Support and Screen Time Among Caregivers of Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

This study aims to assess parental stress and its relationship with perceived social support and screen time among caregivers of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The study will also assess the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of the participating children and their caregivers.

his cross-sectional study aims to assess parental stress and its relationship with perceived social support and screen time among caregivers of children with ADHD. The study will be conducted at the Pediatric Neurodevelopmental and Psychiatry outpatient clinics at Sohag University Hospital and will include primary caregivers of children with ADHD aged 6-12 years.

Data will be collected through a medical chart covering sociodemographic and clinical characteristics, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-18), the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and a screen time questionnaire adapted from the National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH). The study will examine parental stress, perceived social support, and children's average daily screen time, as well as the relationships between these variables. Data will be analyzed using SPSS version 25.

Inclusion Criteria:

1. Primary caregivers of children diagnosed with ADHD according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), with ADHD severity assessed using the Conners' Rating Scale.
2. Children aged 6-12 years.
3. Caregivers willing to participate.

Exclusion Criteria:

1. Children with severe intellectual disability or major neurological disorders.

2. Caregivers won't complete the questionnaires.
