The Worksite Heart Health Improvement Project + Function Focused Care (WHHIP+FFC) Intervention to Increase Physical Activity and Wellbeing Among Staff and Residents in Assisted Living Facilities
The purpose of the study is to test a program that aims to help staff increase wellness behaviors and test the impact of this program on staff and work outcomes. We will also assess the impact of the program on residents' physical activity and function.
The Worksite Heart Health Improvement Project + Function Focused Care (WHIPP+FFC) is an innovative worksite wellness program to reduce sedentary behavior for staff and residents in assisted living. The WHHIP + FFC uses the social ecological model and theory of self-efficacy to provide interventions across multiple levels (interpersonal, intrapersonal, organizational and policy) that reduce barriers for physical activity engagement in assisted living communities. Our goal in this study is to improve: workers and residents' physical activity engagement; residents' function; workers' blood pressure; workers' sleep quality and hours; workers' body composition, workers' waist circumference, workers' performance of function focused care activities; workers' intention to leave; workers' psychological symptoms; workers' burnout levels; and facility level staff turnover.
