Official Title: A Strong Future for Little Hearts: A Randomized Controlled Trial on the Effectiveness of a Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education Program
Brief Summary: Background: Child maltreatment is a major public health problem with significant medical, legal, and social implications that can result in serious injuries, permanent disabilities, and even death Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education Program developed for second-grade primary school students.

Method: This randomized controlled study was conducted with 59 second-grade students enrolled in two primary schools in a district center during the 2025-2026 academic year. One school was assigned to the intervention group (n=32) and the other to the control group (n=27). The intervention group received the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education Program consisting of nine weekly sessions, each lasting approximately 25-30 minutes. Data were collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form and the Children's Knowledge of Abuse Questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, independent samples t-test, and mixed-design analysis of variance (Mixed ANOVA) were used for data analysis.

Eligibility Criteria: Inclusion Criteria:

Enrolled in one of the primary schools where the study was conducted.

Able to communicate verbally.

Written informed consent obtained from a parent or legal guardian and verbal assent obtained from the child.

Voluntarily agreed to participate in the study.

Enrolled in the second grade of primary school.

Exclusion Criteria:

Absent from school during the data collection period due to leave or medical reasons.

Unable to communicate verbally.

Failure to obtain written informed consent from a parent or legal guardian.

Control GroupNo Intervention

No intervention was provided to the Control group during the study period. After completion of the study, a condensed version of the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Education Program was delivered to the children in the Control group for ethical reasons.
