Lack of physical activity and sedentary lifestyles are common phenomena in France. According to the latest findings from Santé Publique France, in 2021, 27% of men and 41% of women were physically inactive; more than 20% of adults reported spending more than seven hours a day sitting down and 39% reported spending more than three hours a day in front of a screen. Lack of physical activity and sedentary lifestyles are responsible for a significant proportion of global mortality and are risk factors for major noncommunicable diseases (particularly cardiovascular disease).
The influence of general practitioners on patient behavior has been studied in relation to their professional practices concerning smoking and physical activity. Studies have shown a positive association between general practitioners' physical activity and their propensity to give advice on physical activity, without studying the impact of this advice on patient's physical activity levels.
The main objective is to compare patient's physical activity levels with their general practitioner's physical activity levels.
