Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin having anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, anti-oxidative, antithrombotic and antiviral properties. Considering these effects vitamin C should have beneficial impact in patients suffering from sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
