82 patients, 61 succeed and 21 failed

Inclusion Criteria:

• mechanical ventilation

Exclusion Criteria:

• pregnancy or breast-feeding
• tracheostomy at baseline
• myasthenia gravis or acute polyradiculoneuropathy
• end-stage chronic illness
